Unruly buffalo shot dead in Kannur

KANNUR: The unruly buffalo which spread panic among the people entering the premises of the Traffic Police Station here on Monday evening was shot dead by the police early on Tuesday morning. The buffalo, which attacked several people and caused injuries to four persons, was shot dead following the orders issued by the District Collector. Among those injured were two Home Guards engaged in traffic duty. Efforts made by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel to bring the animal under control did not succeed till late Monday night. It was after escaping from the clutches of a butcher at Manna in Valapattanam that the buffalo ran amok causing panic among the people. The body of the buffalo was handed over to its owner.
