UP: Bakery Owned By Rape-Accused SP Leader Sees 'Bulldozer Action' In Ayodhya
The 'bulldozer action', carried out under heavy police surveillance, came a day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with the victim's mother and assured her of justice

A bakery owned by the main accused in the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya was bulldozed on Saturday. The bakery was owned by Moid Khan, a Samajwadi Party (SP) functionary in Bhadrasa. The ‘bulldozer action’, carried out under heavy police surveillance, came a day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with the victim’s mother and assured her of justice.

Moid Khan and his employee Raju Khan were arrested from the Purakalandar area in connection with the case on July 30. Quoting police sources, a Hindustan Times report said Moid and Raju raped the girl two months ago and recorded the act. The accused then used the footage to blackmail the minor and continued the abuse.

“Over two-and-a-half months, Khan continued to sexually abuse her, using the video to intimidate and threaten her. Khan committed these acts with the assistance of Raju, his employee,” Ayodhya SSP Raj Karan Nayyar said. The crime was unearthed when the victim’s pregnancy was revealed in a recent medical examination.

Following the meeting with the victim’s family, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had assured that “culprits will not be spared at any cost, (and) strict action will be taken against them”.

“I met the family members of the victim from Ayodhya, along with Dr Amit Singh Chauhan, the MLA from Bikapur constituency in Ayodhya district,” the chief minister said in an X post. “The culprits will not be spared at any cost, (and) strict action will be taken against them. We are committed to getting justice for the girl,” he added.

Hours after the meeting, the station house officer (SHO) of Purakalandar police station, Ratan Sharma, and the Bhadarsa police outpost in charge, Akhilesh Gupta, were suspended.

Meanwhile, Ayodhya MP and SP leader Awadhesh Prasad avoided media questions on the matter.
