Bhubaneswar: Pandemonium rocked the Odisha Assembly on Friday as Congress MLAs raised a furore over the action taken against party workers by the police as they protested outside the Assembly a day earlier over coal blocks allocations.
The state Congress has been demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, saying he recommended people for the coal blocks allocations.
In the Assembly, the Congress MLAs said the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government was corrupt, leading to a war of words between the government and the Opposition.
The House was adjourned till 3 pm.
The Congress has called a statewide bandh on September 10.
Violence condemnable: Naveen Patnaik
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Friday that the violence that took place outside the Assembly on Thursday was shocking and that the people of the state were not used to it.
"Such violence should be condemned," he added.
