BANGALORE: The National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) has adopted a new measure to ensure that the message delivered by folk artistes has a lasting impact on audience. The organisation has decided to standardise the script used by folk artistes to make the content effective.
"Since people in Karnataka are inclined towards art and culture, this measure is effective in educating people on HIV AIDS. Standardisation of scripts will be followed in terms of changing key messages and henceforth, the focus will be on youth and general population," said Dr Leela Sampige, joint director (IEC), Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS).Standardised script would also focus on implication of HIV on the youth, their productivity ad family life, peer group pressure, drug abuse and ART, safe sex counselling and basic information on HIV, she added.

R R Jannu, project director, Karnataka AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS), said that 29 group of folk artistes had also completed training in the state level workshop. They were trained in delivering the message more effectively.
