Veerasamys kin held for land fraud

THOOTHUKUDI: C Subbiah alias Kadambur Jayaraj (55), said to be kin of former Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, was arrested in a cheating case on Tuesday. K Lakshmipathy of Kovilpatti was engaged in a real estate business in partnership with Subbiah, his wife Vijaya (50), B Kannapiran (58), K Chandrasekar (49),his wife Pandiammal and their son Pandiaraj. Together, they bought six acre of land at Illayarasanendal. When Lakshmipathy got appointed as teacher at the government HSS in Kalingapatti. On compulsion by his partners, Lakshmipathy gave them power of attorney to sell the land. When he asked for his share, his partners refused to return it or compensate him for it.Following this, Lakshmipathy filed a petition. As a result, police on Tuesday arrested Subbiah. Subbiah’s wife Vijaya and Kannapiran are absconding, while Chandrasekar, Pandiammal and Pandiaraj have obtained anticipatory bail.
