WARANGAL: The one-day ‘deeksha’ by the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum in support to the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme, witnessed violence in Warangal district on Friday.Amidst police bandobust, the TTDFleaders observed deeksha till the afternoon at Hanamkonda crossroads in the ditsrict headquarters.Later, they withdrew from the protest abruptly after being requested by the police.Earlier, students of the Kakatiya University and various other Telangana associations tried to obstruct the ‘deeksha’.KU students barged into the TTDFcamp and tried to remove the banners and flexiboards when TD activists attacked them.Soon police entered the scene and pulled the students away.Then they dispersed them away using mild force.In the melee, some students fell down.A student, Jorika Ramesh, who suffered injuries was shifted to a private hospital.Police arrested student JAC leader K Vasudeva Reddy and six other students.Cops foiled several attempts of the students to attack the camp. Finally, they requested the TTDFleaders to withdraw from their protest in the afternoon.The deeksha at Warangal crossroads also ended abruptly.In Narsampet, T activists attacked the vehicle of TDP district unit president Revuri Prakash Reddy.They damaged the window panes.Prakash Reddy’s gunman also suffered injuries in the incident.T activists organised a camp to counter the TD’s camp after failing to attack it several times.As police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them, T activists hurled stones at the cops.Then the T activists tried to attack the TD office and on failing to do so, they destroyed the NTR statue in the town.They also set ablaze the motorcycle of a TD leader pouring petrol on it.Police arrested 50 T activists including TRS district convener Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, BJP district president Donthu Devender Reddy and JAC leader Ambati Srinivas.In Palakurthy, TTDFconvener Errabelli Dayakar Rao participated in the deeksha.T supporters tried to attack the camp many times even as police, in a large number, stood guard at the place.Two T activists threatened to jump down a water tank till the TTDFleaders withdrew from their protest.
