VS writes to Governor on Pillai issue

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has written to Governor M O H Farook to reconsider the remission of sentence to former Minister R Balakrishna Pillai who is undergoing one-year rigorous imprisonment for corruption.  Achuthanandan, in his letter, alleged that the govt was misusing the Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services (Management) Act 2010 by including Pillai who had violated the jail rules. Pillai, during his jail term, was also warned for the violation of rules and hence, his remission of sentence should be reconsidered, the Opposition Leader said.  Achuthanandan has challenged the govt order in the Supreme Court.
