BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Sunday announced reopening of the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla on Tuesday with the promise of instituting adequate security measures. But the medicos rejected the decision as “nothing new and concrete” and vowed to continue with their cease-work agitation in all the three medical colleges and hospitals. With the deadlock showing no signs of  breaking after repeated rounds of talks between the Government and the medicos over the last three days, the Government on Sunday said that adequate police force had been deployed on the campus to maintain law and order. The man in question, Burla BJD leader Sisir Kumar Dandia, would be barred from  the campus of the VSSMCH through a prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC, Health Minister Prasanna Acharya said after a meeting with the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary and Health Department officials. He said the decision had been taken in the interest of the students and patients and in response to increasing requests from several quarters. Steps are being taken to prevent anti-social elements from creating disturbance on the campus. Police have erected barricades on both sides of the road running through the campus to regulate the entry of the visitors. The medicos, however, responded by stating that not allowing anyone inside the campus was a gross misrepresentation of facts as VSSMCH did not have a campus. “The ongoing fight is for establishment of a unified campus. We have been agitating for integrating the campus by one boundary and provisioning of adequate security since 2007,” said Dr Nilamadhab Prusty, spokesperson of Joint Action Committee of the three MCHs. The JAC would be meeting on Sunday night to chalk out further course of action.
