Forty hours after she went missing from Ghaziabad near the Vaishali Metro station area, Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna has returned home. In a statement given to the Ghaziabad police, the girl has claimed that she was abducted and later released. The girl said that the auto in which she was travelling broke down, following which she was abducted, blindfolded and taken to an unknown location.
The 25-year-old has claimed that she was kept at an unknown location for 24 hours before she was released at the railway station early on Friday morning. She also said that she was not harmed and was given food as well. She has been taken for medical examination.
According to sources, Uttar Pradesh Police is suspicious over the manner in which the 25-year old went missing. Sources say that the girl's family had initially told them that they were going to pick her up from the station. However, the family later called the police to inform them that the girl was picked up mid-way.
The Snapdeal employee who was missing since Wednesday, returned home on Friday morning. Her parents received a call from her in the early hours of Friday where she said that she was safe and was in Panipat. "She called me and said she is fine. I went to pick her up from the station. As soon as she came, she slept in my lap," the girl's father said.
Snapdeal, which had started a campaign with the hashtag #HelpFindDipti to find its employee, thanked the people for their help and cooperation. "The entire Snapdeal family is thrilled that our friend, Dipti Sarna has been reunited with her family. We are grateful to the Honorable Chief Minister of UP, the UP Police and members of the media. We are humbled by your love and support," Snapdeal said in a statement.
An intensive search operation had been launched after the 25-year-old woman went missing from Ghaziabad on Wednesday. Before she went missing, she was seen near the Vaishali Metro station area.
