According to the tournament regulations, the players' apparel need to be almost completely white.

London: The All England Club has ordered the seven-time Wimbledon champion to change the orange-soled shoes he wore during his first-round win on Monday, after the authorities found it in breach of the tournament regulations on players' apparel that need to be almost completely white.

The Swiss is scheduled to take on Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round on Wednesday, where he will have to switch his shoes to more conventional ones. Federer's Wimbledon outfit is designed by Nike, who reportedly pay the 17-time grand slam winner $10 million for the honour.

It has been learned that Serena Williams too has been told to change her shoes to go by the apparel guidelines for the Wimbledon grass court lawns. According to the regulations, all clothing designs have to be submitted 90 days in advance for inspection.

The players, however, are unlikely to be fined for the breach.
