A youth died and another was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in front of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Kakkanad on Tuesday. The deceased is Sajesh, 29, of Vadakathara house in Anjumoorthy Mangalam, Palakkad. The injured person is Vishnu, 25, of Pampady, Kottayam.
According to the police, both of them were employees of a company in SEZ. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm, when they were coming out of SEZ on the motorbike.
The two-wheeler, which was ridden by Vishnu, collided with another bike, and Sajesh fell on to the other side of the road. He was crushed by a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Sajesh died on the spot, and Vishnu was rushed to a hospital. The traffic police located the other bike and the truck driver, and took their statements. A case has been registered.
Sajesh’s body is being kept at the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the relatives after a post mortem on Wednesday. Vishnu underwent treatment by neurosurgeons. The hospital officials said that he is in a critical condition and under observation.
