CHENNAI: BA 22-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself his house after being summoned for inquiry in connection with a case, at St Thomas Mount here on Sunday.Sources said Ravikumar, a resident of St Thomas Mount, worked in a snack stall at Parrys. On Saturday night, he was picked by St Thomas police for inquiry about a group clash that took place in the area last week. More than 10 persons had been arrested and remanded in the case. Ravikumar was reportedly warned and let off around 4.30 am on Sunday morning. In the evening, at 5 pm, he went inside the bedroom, saying he wanted to sleep. When he did not emerge out of the room even after two hours, his family members broke open the door and went inside. They found that the youth had hanged himself.Pvt Firm Official’s House BurgledBurglars broke into the house of an assistant manager of a private firm and decamped with 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery, silver articles and `10,000 cash at Kodungaiyur. Easwaranath, a resident of Second Block in Muthamizh Nagar, was out of town with his family and, on returning on Sunday morning, noticed that the front door was broken and the valuables stolen from the safe. The burglars also broke into his neighbour Madhavan’s house in Third Block, but nothing was apparently stolen from the apartment.Chain snatchingThree separate incidents of chain snatching were reported in the city on Saturday. Manjula Ramachandran, a resident of Saravana Perumal Street, Purasaiwalkam, was returning from her relatives’ house when two men on a bike snatched her gold chain and escaped. Kilpauk police are investigating.
