Taeyong is the first member of the group to commence his military service duties.

Mark and Haechan from the popular South Korean boy band NCT faced an emotional ordeal recently when they attempted to bid farewell to their fellow member, Taeyong, who enlisted for mandatory military service. Mark and Haechan, wishing to see Taeyong off, rescheduled their flight from Shanghai to Busan to an earlier time. However, everything did not go as per the plan due to unexpected delays caused by rain. Their flight was diverted to Jeju before finally returning to Seoul, causing them to miss the opportunity to send Taeyong off in person.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Mark and Haechan didn’t let the circumstances dampen their determination to bid farewell to Taeyong. While they were stuck at the airport due to flight delays, they took to Instagram for a live broadcast to express their goodbyes to Taeyong.

“Everyone here, including us, I hope that you’ll be able to send Taeyong Hyung off well in your hearts and I feel thankful to the 127 Hyungs who all gathered to send Taeyong Hyung off. We promised to meet all together next time, so don’t worry everyone, take care,” said Haechan.

Despite their physical absence at Taeyong’s enlistment, Mark and Haechan found a way to show their support. They participated in the Yacht challenge on TikTok, aiming to uplift the spirits of fans who were also saddened by Taeyong’s departure.

Taeyong is the first member of the group to commence his military service duties. Taeyong officially began his service as an active-duty soldier in the Navy. Before his enlistment, Taeyong expressed his gratitude towards fans on Weverse and promised to take care of himself during his service.
