Is Raksha Bandhan Coinciding With Panchak Auspicious? Know Timing, Significance
A rare coincidence of Panchak will be observed on the Raksha Bandhan.

The holy festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the day of Sawan Purnima. On this day, sisters tie Rakhi on the wrists of their brothers. This year, Panchak is falling on Raksha Bandhan. It will be for five days. A rare coincidence of Panchak will be observed on the Raksha Bandhan. When the moon is in the last five constellations – Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purvabhadrapa, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revathi — it’s called Panchak. In simpler terms, Panchak happens when the moon is in the zodiac signs of Aquarius and Pisces. Panchak will be observed on Raksha Bandhan this year. Astrologer Dr Ganesh Mishra of Central Sanskrit University, Puri explains the importance of this rare occasion on Raksha Bandhan.

According to the Hindu calendar, this year, Raksha Bandhan is on Monday, August 19. Based on the Udaya Tithi, Sawan Purnima is on August 19. The Sawan Shukla Purnima Tithi is from 03:04 AM to 11:55 PM on August 19. This time Panchak will be observed on the day of Raksha Bandhan, which is a Raj Panchak. It will be imposed on Raksha Bandhan from 7 pm, which will last till 5:53 am on the next day, that is, August 20. Raj Panchak will be from August 19 to August 23.

According to Dr Ganesh Mishra, Raj Panchak falling on Raksha Bandhan will be auspicious and fruitful. In Raj Panchak, you can do work related to wealth and property. The pending government work is expected to be completed during this period. In Raj Panchak, you can buy movable or immovable property. The duration of Raj Panchak is considered auspicious for many. It is also advised to start new businesses during this time. Panchak occurs every month. Most of the time Panchak is considered inauspicious to start new endeavours. Raj Panchak occurring on Raksha Bandhan will have no ill effects, as per Dr Ganesh Mishra.

This year, Raksha Bandhan is not in the morning because Bhadra Muhurat appears during the day. On August 19, the auspicious time of Raksha Bandhan will be from 1:30 pm to 9:08 pm.
