Akshay Kumar Reveals Bollywood Celebrates His Failures: 'Now They Say I Don't Devote Enough...'
Akshay Kumar opened up about Bollywood's infighting and alleged that they celebrate his failures.

Akshay Kumar recently unleashed his frustration against the politics prevailing in the film industry. He addressed the issue of some individuals reveling in his setbacks, highlighting his challenging period at the box office where he faced limited success with just two notable hits out of over 10 film releases. Akshay affirmed his knowledge of the origin of rumors suggesting his lack of commitment to projects as a factor contributing to his films’ lackluster performance. He lamented that such misinformation has altered public opinion about him and articulated his disappointment with industry colleagues engaging in backbiting and negative discourse about each other.

During a conversation with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus, Akshay Kumar disclosed his disciplined approach to work by adhering strictly to eight-hour shifts. He shared,

“I don’t want to get into the details of who started this (wrong perception), because it starts from somewhere. It starts from somebody who doesn’t like you. That’s how it starts, they pick one or two things… Now remember what they used to say earlier? They used to say, ‘Akshay’s films don’t take long; he comes on time and leaves on time’. I used to do 17 films at a time, and they used to be released within eight months; that’s how efficient I was considered… But now, when films don’t work, they say that I don’t devote enough time.”

In a candid statement, Akshay Kumar revealed his collaborative mindset by emphasizing his dedication to fulfilling directors’ visions without imposing his own preferences unnecessarily. Despite facing a series of setbacks in his recent projects, including the high-budget disappointment “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” Akshay remains committed to respecting the creative authority of filmmakers and delivering performances aligned with their specific requirements, “People love seeing when my films don’t work. People love seeing it, they’re happy. I’ve seen it myself… Till today, in 33-34 years, I have never spoken ill of anyone. I always feel that you have no right to take anybody’s name and put the person down,” he stated.

He also added, “I would like to give this advice to people. Don’t put others down. I see it in politics, I see it in my own industry. Ek hero dusre hero ko gaali deta hai, director usko gaali deta hai, producer uss hero ko gaali deta hai (everybody is calling each other names). I just fail to understand why you all are abusing each other. There is so much of energy that is just going waste.”

Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira finally released today. The film was getting positive reviews ahead of its release. It is a Hindi remake of Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru, which is said to be the biopic of G. R. Gopinath, the founder of the Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan. Well, today Suriya and Jyotika have lauded and thanked Akshay Kumar for choosing Sarfira.

Suriya also penned a heartfelt note on X handle and wrote, “Sarfira will always be an important film for all of us! Akshay Kumar Sir thank you for choosing Sarfira as your 150th film. You’ve made Veer come alive so beautifully. Sudha Kongara, you’ve lived this dream for so many years, happy our film is in theatres now. Radhikka Madan is superb as Rani. Paresh Rawal is just brilliant. Thank you, we now have beautiful lifetime memories! Jyotika had Akshay sir’s poster as a teenager & now she’s a proud producer..!” Jyotika also showered praise on Akshay Kumar and wrote on social media, ” Best wishes Akshay Kumar for the most deserving success and a heart-touching performance. From a fangirl with a poster of yours in her bedroom to becoming a producer for your special 150th film…truly a moment etched in time for me.” Responding to Jyotika, Akshay wrote, ” Thank you so much Jyotika for such kind words, it means a lot to me. Here’s to many more memorable moments ahead! ”
