Actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who shot to fame with the 2009 TV series, Ramayan, will now be seen in the lead role in Commander Karan Saxena.

After establishing his identity as an exceptional writer, Amit Khan is all set to grab the spotlight and create a stir in the entertainment industry with his book, Commander Karan Saxena. He is a well-known name in Hindu pulp fiction writing in the country and more than 100 of his Hindi thrillers have been published by leading publication houses in the country. He is the one who introduced the legendary character Commander Karan Saxena, and now the character will come live from print to digital headlined by Gurmeet Choudhary.

Actor Gurmeet Choudhary shot to fame with the portrayal of Lord Rama in the 2009 TV series, Ramayan. He will now be seen in the lead role along with Iqbal Khan and Hruta Durgule. It will stream on Disney plus Hotstar from July 8. The show has been written by the author of the book, Amit Khan.

Commander Karan Saxena revolves around a RAW agent who has to unravel a high-stakes mystery which includes a political angle and will show betrayal. The show is directed by Jatin Wagle and backed by Rajeshwar Nair and Krishnan Iyer under the banner of Keylight Productions.

Out of the 100 novels Amit Khan has written, 58 of these detective novels are from the Commander Karan Saxena series. Interestingly, before being released as a series on the OTT platform, it was released as an audio drama series on Spotify where actor Sonu Sood lent his voice. In an interview, the writer shared that the first part of the novel came out 32 years ago when he did not know that the character would ever take the form of Gurmeet Choudhary on digital media.

On June 16, he shared the trailer of his upcoming drama series on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “32 years ago Commander Karan Saxena’s first novel was published. I did not realise how time passed. It seems like yesterday when I held Commander’s first novel in my hands and looked at it as if I was looking at my child after birth.”

In an interview, producer Rajeshwar Nair shared that they aimed to put forward a “gripping” and “emotionally charged” story in front of the viewers. The team wanted to bring compelling narratives and were glad to bring Amit Khan’s iconic character to life.
