Amitabh Bachchan is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, Kalki 2898 AD. Amitabh plays Ashwatthama in the Nag Ashwin directorial and his performance is being lauded by fans and critics alike. However, Amitabh feels that it would be fruitful to sit with the younger generation and ask them what they felt while watching the film.
In a conversation between the actor and Nag Ashwin, posted on the Vyjayanthi Movies YouTube channel, Amitabh Bachchan said, “It’s all very well to ask people coming out of the theatre what they felt, but we need to catch some people, the youngsters, and say, ‘Let’s sit down and have a chat and talk about what did you actually see, what was going through your mind?’ It would make a very interesting subject. I’m going to catch Abhishek and my granddaughter, and have a chat with them.”
Amitabh Bachchan has two granddaughters – Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya and Shweta Nanda-Nikhil Nanda’s daughter Navya Naveli Nanda. Amitabh Bachchan said that he has seen the movie four times and discovers new things with every rewatch.
In the same conversation, Nag Ashwin thanked Amitabh for being a part of the film and said, “I know you don’t like this, but this is one of the few chances we have to thank you for your patience. The whole country, whoever I speak to, but they say it’s such a pleasure to see you in that avatar. I did a bunch of interviews, and everybody just said, ‘Thank you for giving us this Amitabh Bachchan’.”
Amitabh Bachchan replied, “I just feel that the compliment isn’t to me, it’s to the concept and the character. It speaks volumes about the film. It’s not a compliment about a certain star, and they liked their performance, and so on and so forth… When they compliment a Prabhas or a Deepika, they’re actually complimenting the concept of the director, Nagi, who was able to conceive and put together this story.”
Kalki 2898 AD is smashing several records at the box office. The film is one of the highest-earning films in India with a gross collection of over Rs 1050 crore worldwide, and has netted Rs 600 crore in India, as per reports.
