Earlier last week, Anushka Sharma revealed her daughter Vamika was concerned for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and other members of the Indian squad who cried after winning the T20 World Cup. On Saturday night, India beat South Africa to win the T20 World Cup trophy. They won the cup after 17 years. Following their win, the squad couldn’t hold back tears.

Anushka took to Instagram and revealed that the couple’s daughter wondered if the men in blue had someone to hug while they broke down. Sharing pictures from the emotional celebration, Anushka said, “Our daughter’s biggest concern was if all the players had someone to hug them after she saw them cry on tv….. Yes, My darling, they were hugged by 1.5 billion people ❤️ What a phenomenal victory and what a legendary achievement!! CHAMPIONS – CONGRATULATIONS!!” she wrote.

The post came a little after Virat was seen talking to his kids, daughter Vamika and son Akaay, and his wife Anushka after winning the T20 World Cup trophy. In a video gone viral, an emotional Virat was on a video call with his family. He was seen making faces to cheer his kids while talking to Anushka after the win. Virat had scored the highest runs in the game for India. He made 76 runs of 59 balls, helping India put up a score of 176 runs.

Virat announced his retirement after the match ended. “This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve,” he said. “One day you feel like you can’t get a run and this happens, God is great. (It is) just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup,” he said.

“Yes I have, this was an open secret (retirement). Not something that I wasn’t going to announce even if we had lost. Time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward,” Kohli added.
