'Bhaag Johnny' trailer: Is it a Bollywod version of post-modern cult 'Run Lola Run'?
The trailer clearly shows two parallel story lines going in the same film with the same characters and maybe instances. Interestingly, the treatment and story of the film somewhat resembles the cult 1998 film 'Run Lola Run' by German film maker Tom Tykwer.

Actor Kunal Khemu recently released the trailer of his upcoming action-thriller 'Bhaag Johnny'. Directed by Shivam Nair, the story of the film seems interesting and the concept seems a stark contrast from the usual Bollywood potboilers. The film is based on the life of a man who is living a king's life until a secret is disclosed and he is forced to take up a task he is not willing to do. Now, here's a catch; when he thinks that there is no way out, he gets an opportunity to live two lives, one where he has to fulfill that unwilling act and live with that, and the other where he refuses to do the act and keeps running. The film is about the results of his actions in both the lives.

The trailer clearly shows two parallel story lines going in the same film with the same characters and maybe instances. A different form of cinema altogether. Interestingly, the treatment and story of the film somewhat resembles the cult 1998 film 'Run Lola Run' by German film maker Tom Tykwer.

'Run Lola Run', a classic example of post-modern cinema, tells the story of a girl 'Lola' who has 20 minutes to arrange 100,000 Deutschmarks, in order to save her boyfriend. Now the film is a complex story with three different timelines, with clock ticking and

instances happening. It is the different actions of Lola in all three timelines that define different ends to the film. The film is fast, thrilling and keeps you at the edge of you seat.

If 'Bhaag Johnny' is inspired (or copied?) from 'Run Lola Run', it has taken a very big challenge to live up to the mark set by the classic. While it's too soon to comment on the Kunal Khemu starrer as it's just the trailer that has been launched but with item-numbers, steamy scenes and other Bollywood masala adding the extra doze of thrill to the story, it can turn out to be a different film all together.
