South Korean actress Son Ye-jin, known for her role in Crash Landing On You, has captured our admiration not only for her illustrious career and acting skills but also for her acts of kindness. Recently, Son Ye-jin alongside MSteam Entertainment CEO Lee Hyuk Jin visited the Help Center For Infants In Need (Baby Box) in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
During her visit, Son Ye-jin spent approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes interacting with the kids. She also engaged in conversations with the staff and volunteers at the center. Following this heartwarming visit, the actress reportedly made a significant donation of 150 million KRW (approximately Rs 94 lakh).
Manager of the centre, Yang Chang Soo, expressed his surprise and gratitude over a phone call to Newsen. “We never anticipated that Son Ye-jin would personally visit. Her unexpected generosity was like a Christmas blessing, and we are sincerely grateful,” he told the Korean media house.
“Son Ye-jin preferred her donation to remain private. But we sought her understanding later and decided to make the announcement. Her warm-hearted actions, demonstrating sincerity by venturing into an area without government support, even on a remote and challenging path, are truly unforgettable,” added Soo.
The Help Center has played a crucial role in safeguarding over 1,000 lives, with outcomes ranging from reunification with families to adoption and the transition to orphanages. This support provided by the center enables children to gain independence, as reported by Allkpop.
Son Ye-jin’s philanthropic endeavours extend beyond this recent one. In 2020, she showcased her commitment to social welfare by contributing 100 million won (approximately Rs 62 lakh) to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. This donation aimed to support vulnerable groups and medical staff affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, in 2022, alongside her husband and co-star Hyun Bin, she generously donated 200 million won (approximately Rs 1.25 crore) to aid residents affected by a significant wildfire in Gangwon Province.
Rising to fame in 2003, Son Ye-jin earned the title of Nation’s First Love in Korea. Her outstanding performances in films such as The Classic, Summer Scent, A Moment to Remember, and The Last Princess have firmly established her position in the entertainment industry. Beyond the silver screen, Son Ye-jin has also left a significant impact on television, starring in popular dramas like Alone in Love, Something in the Rain, and the highly acclaimed Crash Landing on You.
