Despite A Promising Debut, Why Tusshar Kapoor’s Bollywood Career Never Really Took Off
Tusshar Kapoor starred in numerous films, but none could replicate the success of his first movie.

Tusshar Kapoor, the son of Bollywood icon Jitendra, entered the film industry in 2001 with Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai, featuring Kareena Kapoor. While he had a promising start, he struggled to sustain success, with only a few hit films as the lead actor. Tusshar Kapoor has also taken on supporting roles in some successful movies.

Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai was directed by Satish Kaushik and was a huge box-office success. Despite a budget of just Rs 7 crore, the film earned an impressive Rs 30 crore at the box office.

Following his impressive debut, Tusshar Kapoor starred in numerous consecutive films, but unfortunately, none could replicate the success of his first movie. Many of his subsequent films faced poor box office performances, resulting in substantial losses for the producers who had invested in them.

Following the triumph of his debut, Tusshar Kapoor’s career witnessed a decline, with consecutive flops such as Kya Dil Ne Kaha, Jeena Sirf Mere Liye and Kuch To Hai. Additionally, films like Yeh Dil, Shart, and Insaan turned out to be box-office disasters, contributing to the challenges in sustaining his earlier success.

After a long time, Tusshar Kapoor found success in the Golmaal franchise, directed by Rohit Shetty. In these films, which featured actors like Ajay Devgan, Sharman Joshi, and Arshad Warsi in lead roles, Tusshar Kapoor uniquely portrayed a character without uttering a single dialogue.

Besides Golmaal, Tusshar Kapoor has gained audience appreciation for his supporting roles in various films. Interestingly, the support roles garnered him the affection of the audience, a response that eluded him in lead roles.

Despite being in the industry for over two decades, Tusshar Kapoor continues to face challenges in attaining stardom comparable to that of his father, Jitendra. His journey in the industry reflects the complexities of establishing a prominent place in Bollywood.
