Meiyazhagan, a family drama written and directed by C Prem Kumar, was released at the cinemas on September 27, 2024. The film has received appreciation for acting prowess, direction and many other aspects. Amidst these accolades, a report stating actor Karthi’s salary for Meiyazhagan has surfaced on social media. As per the reports, Karthi has raked in Rs 15-20 crores for this film. There is no official data to confirm these reports. The film stars an ensemble cast of actors Arvind Swamy, V Jayaprakash, Devadarshini Chetan and others. Actor Suriya and Jyothika’s production and distribution company 2D Entertainment have backed this film. Govind Vasantha has scored the music.

According to a KoiMoi report, Meiyazhagan was expected to touch the Rs 4 crore mark and exceed the openings of Karthi’s earlier films Sardar and Japan. That didn’t happen, and the collection stayed slightly above the Rs 3 crore mark. Meiyazhagan started brilliantly during night shows, which helped it hit the Rs 3 crore mark and rake in Rs 3.05 crore net at the Indian box office on day 1. The film has registered these collections in Tamil Nadu, followed by Karnataka. All across the nation, the film registered over 2 lakh viewers on the opening day. Keeping in mind Meiyazhagan’s theme, the start is considered good enough, and it is aiming to increase here with positive reviews.

Suriya, Meiyazhagan’s producer was overwhelmed with happiness on the film’s success at the box office. Post the theatrical run, this film will be available for OTT streaming on the platform Netflix for a hefty price. The film’s OTT streaming date will be revealed only after its theatrical run is completed in four weeks.
