In the upcoming remake of the Ken Ghosh’s 2003 hit Ishq Vishk, producer Ramesh Taurani plans to bring back the magic of young love with Ishq Vishk Rebound, directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari. In the cast, one name stands out – Pashmina Roshan, daughter of composer Rajesh Roshan and cousin of Hrithik Roshan. Ramesh says Pashmina got her role purely because of her talent and not her connections in the film industry.
Ramesh Taurani, in a chat with Forbes, said that he had no idea about Pashmina’s background. “We had no idea who she was. Pashmina was one of the 15 girls we shortlisted, we had no idea who she was. When we started doing her contracts, we found out she was a Roshan. I had worked extensively with her father Rajesh Roshan, but he never called, asking me to consider her,” said the producer of the film.
He said that in the industry, talent matters most, whether one is from a famous family or not. He continued, “Neither did Hrithik, who has a rapport with me. Merit matters more than anything in this industry, whether you’re an outsider or a nepo kid. If you see from the ’80s to now, there are some actors who haven’t succeeded despite their lineage. With the original Ishq Vishk, we launched Shahid, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala. Shahid is a superstar today! Shenaz was also flooded with offers after the film. We are keen to do more movies with these kids too.”
The original Ishq Vishk helped Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala start their careers. Ramesh mentions that the reboot, starring young actors Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grrewal, continues this tradition of introducing fresh faces. “We wanted newcomers. Rohit Saraf has tasted fame, but this will launch him as a mainstream hero. We had five rounds of auditions and chose them,” he said.
As the buzz around grows for Ishq Vishk Rebound’s release, everyone is keeping their eyes fixed on Pashmina Roshan.
The makers have also dropped the title track and it has immediately caught everyone’s attention. Hrithik Roshan gave a huge shoutout to his cousin and called the track a “superhit”.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Hrithik Roshan shared the poster of the song and wrote, “What a song! What a dancing! Superhit”. Pashmina Roshan had earlier shared the track on Instagram and written, “It’s love at first sight with the title track of Ishq Vishk Rebound. #IshqVishkPyaarVyaar OUT NOW on Tips YouTube channel. In cinemas on 21st June 2024.”
