Is Dhanush playing the role of a slum chieftain in Balaji Mohan's 'Maari'?
According to reports, Dhanush speaks Madras slang on the sets, which have been fashioned after Thiruvallikeni market area.

Starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal, the shooting for 'Maari' has already begun. According to our sources, a huge set of a slum has been modelled for the same. The major portion of the film will be shot here.

Earlier, there were rumours that Dhanush was set to play the character of a north-Chennai tailor in the film, but according to recent reports, he'll be playing the role of a local slum chieftain, which is also the reason why he has to speak in Madras slang.

"The shoot took place in the market area of Thiruvallikeni for a few days, and then erected a similar set in another part of the city. The set includes a big market, apart from other essentials for the plot of the film. Dhanush speaks Madras slang with ease on the set. A major portion of the film will be shot in this set. Shooting is expected to commence from this week, and they will continue to shoot till the end of the month," reveals a source.

Sun TV bagged the satellite rights for 'Maari' for Rs 17 crores. The movie, which has been directed by Balaji Mohan, has been co-produced by Sarathkumar, Radhika Sarathkumar and Listin Stephen under the production banner of Magic Frames. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is set to release during May or June 2015.
