Manoj Bajpayee Says He Considers Himself 'Bhagyashaali' On Winning The National Film Award For The Fourth Time

Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore’s Gulmohar bagged three awards at the 70th National Film Awards. The prestigious event is all set to take place in Delhi today where the winners will receive their awards from President Droupadi Murmu. Ahead of the awards, actor Manoj Bajpayee expressed his joy at winning the National Award for the fourth time.

In a video message shared by Manoj Bajpayee, the actor talked about winning the National Film Award and how grateful he feels for receiving the recognition. The actor said, “When I got it three times, even then my reaction was the same on getting the news of National Award as it is for the fourth time. When I was feeling hopeless, I used to think that if I got this once, my life would become blessed. And today by the grace of the Almighty, I have got it for the fourth time for Gulmohar. So I consider myself a very lucky artist who is getting a National Award for the fourth time.”

Bajpayee also mentioned that his wife would be attending the National Film Awards for the first time. He said that she had not been to the event when he had won it thrice. He added that this makes his win even more special. Gulmohar won three awards at the National Film Awards –  Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Screenplay (Dialogues), and Special Mention (feature film). Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, the story revolves around a family who gathers at their ancestral house one last time before it is demolished to make way for a high-rise building.

The 70th National Film Awards will be held at the Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi today. Earlier today, celebrities flew down to Delhi to attend the event. The prestigious award ceremony will kickstart from 3 PM onwards.
