Mohanlal is one of the legendary actors in the Malayalam cinema and has many hits to his acting credit. He is now making his directorial debut with the 3D fantasy drama film Barroz. Recently, this film dominated the headlines after Mohanlal watched it at the Sony Pictures Studios. He watched Barroz with Mark Kilian and Jonathan Miller to fine-tune the music and sound in the film. Mark Kilian is a music composer and Jonathan Miller is a theatre director and actor. Mohanlal also uploaded a photo on Facebook with Mark, Jonathan, and two other unidentified members. A glimpse from the Barroz is visible on the screen in their background.
Mohanlal’s fans rooted for him in the comment section while some people had different opinions. One of them commented, “Hype only. But after the release disaster. Nowadays, we are watching Mohanlal movies like this. So, I suggest fans don’t create too much hype for every movie. It’s better for the cinema fans."
Barroz will be released on the big screens on March 28. Mohanlal has played the lead role in this film. The other notable star cast includes Guru Somasundaram, Prashant Nair, and others. Aashirvad Cinemas has produced this film.
Mohanlal’s last released film Malaikottai Vaaliban released on January 25 and received mixed reviews. Lijo Jose Pellissery directed this film. Malaikottai Vaaliban couldn’t resonate with a large section of the audience, unlike Mohanlal’s previous works. In an interview with the Galatta Plus, Pellissery said that he was hurt by his film being called the worst Malayalam movie ever. He said, “When such an effort has been taken… I am not saying it should be celebrated… Criticisms are also totally welcome… But during the first two days since the film released, the discussions were in the wrong direction." Lijo said that it’s okay for viewers to say if they liked a movie or not. He, however, observed it’s unfair to discourage others from watching the film just because they didn’t like it.
Sonalee Kulkarni, Manoj Moses, Hareesh Peradi and others have also acted in Malaikottai Vaaliban.
