Rajkummar Rao On National Issues He Has in Mind While Voting in Lok Sabha Elections: 'It's Personal'

The Lok Sabha elections of 2024 are a crucial event in India. As polling kicked off for Phase 5 in Maharashtra, many Bollywood actors made it a point to head to their designated polling booths early in the morning to cast their votes. Several celebrities were spotted at the polling stations, enthusiastically showing their civic responsibility. They posed for the photographers outside with their inked fingers outside the booths, a traditional gesture indicating they had cast their vote.
The participation of Bollywood stars in the elections shows how important public figures are in promoting democratic values and voting. Their involvement can influence public opinion and increase voter turnout, proving that every vote counts. Many actors, including Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, have used social media to encourage people to vote.
Among the early voters was Rajkummar Rao. Speaking to the paps, he said, “Bahut badi zimmedari hai hum sab ki desh ke liye. Main bahar shoot kar raha tha, flight pakad ke aya subah subah vote daalne ke liye. Janhvi is waiting for me. We will be headed to Varanasi to promote Mr & Mrs Mahi. I will also have to resume shoot.”
Speaking about the importance of voting, the actor said, “It’s very very important. if, through us, people can get influenced, it’s the best we can do to make people aware of the importance of voting. I’m very happy, I’m very thrilled that election commission shows me to be the national icon. I totally understand how important it is – it’s our moral responsibility towards the nation. I appeal to all of you to come out and vote.”
On being asked about the issues that he is focusing on, while voting, Rajkummar said that it is very personal. “Of course, we all want a nation to grow and shine. It’s already shining and I’m sure it’s gonna shine even more in the coming years,” he added.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao is basking in the success of his recently released film Srikanth. The film was released on May 10 and is going strong at the box office. Actor Ranveer Singh also took to his social media handle and showered praises on the actor. Earlier, Akshay Kumar had also praised the film and said that Rajkummar should start giving acting classes. Rajkummar plays the role of the visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla in the film.
