Ram Madhvani's Neerja, which stars Sonam Kapoor in a pivotal role has been banned in Pakistan for allegedly portraying the country in poor light. The film portrays the story of slain stewardess Neerja Bhanot, who saved several hundred lives in the 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi. She eventually lost her life in the battle with hijackers.
Neerja was also awarded the Ashok Chakra for saving several hundred lives as an air hostess.
