As K-pop, K-dramas and K-films continue to captivate global audiences, K-actors are increasingly expressing their fondness for India. Recently, South Korean heartthrob Park Seo-Joon, renowned for his roles in dramas like What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and She Was Pretty, shared his admiration for Bollywood films and expressed a desire to visit India.
During a roundtable interview with the PTI, when asked if he would ever come to India to meet his fans, Seo-Joon said, “If you invite me, anytime. I love Bollywood… Yeah, please invite me. If I get the chance, I’d love to fly over.” The same emotion was resonated by his Gyeongseong Creature co-star, Han So-Hee, and its director Chung Dong-yoon. They nodded in agreement and said, “Same here.”
In the same conversation, the Itaewon Class actor was questioned if the two-part Netflix thriller series Gyeongseong Creature appealed to him due to its unique story arc than the rest of the K-dramas. Seo-Joon opined that even if the narrative of dramas is the same, the way in which the story is told to the audience is where the difference lies. “There are a lot of Korean dramas… We have this whole history… Because we have so many (dramas), there could be similar narratives and processes to making a show. But even if we have the same theme or narrative, like the way it unravels, is what makes a show unique or fun,” he said.
Seo-Joon further said, “As an actor, it’s my job to provide different content, stories to the viewers. In that sense, Gyeongseong Creature makes (for) really good content, and I’ll be waiting for your invitation to India. Not everything that happened between the past and the present are in the script, so I had to fill in the void with my own imagination.”
Gyeongseong Creature’s first season premiered on the streaming platform in December 2023. The story, set in the spring of 1945, follows Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy and skilled businessman with a dark past and Yoon Chae-ok, a skilled bounty hunter during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Together, they try to unravel the mystery behind the disappearances in Gyeongseong. The second season of Gyeongseong Creature will start streaming on Netflix on Friday, September 27. The latest season’s story is set in present-day Seoul.
About Seo Joon’s work front, he made his Hollywood debut last year with MCU’s The Marvel and impressed his fans with two Korean films, Dream and Concrete Utopia.
