Vedaa Box Office Day 1: John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh Film Gets Decent Start, Earns Rs 6.52 Cr
John Abraham’s Vedaa earns Rs 6.52 crore on its first day, securing the second spot in box office rankings behind Stree 2.

Vedaa, directed by Nikhil Advani and starring John Abraham and Sharvari, made a decent start at the box office on its opening day, earning Rs 6.52 crore across all languages. Released on the Independence Day holiday, the film had a 35.63 percent occupancy rate in Hindi on Thursday, August 15, 2024, according to Sacnilk.com.

Despite the favourable timing of its release, Vedaa faced tough competition from Stree 2, the horror-comedy that has dominated the box office this season. As the second most preferred movie choice among Hindi releases, Vedaa performed well, considering the circumstances. The competition with Stree 2 limited its screen availability, but that’s a common challenge during major holiday weekends.

The film is projected to earn between Rs 23-24 crore over its extended five-day weekend, ending on Monday, as per Pinkvilla.com. With no significant new releases on the horizon, Vedaa has the potential to maintain a steady performance at lower levels in the following weeks. However, with Stree 2 continuing to draw massive crowds, Vedaa will likely remain in its shadow for the rest of its theatrical run, though it can still claim victory over its other rival, Khel Khel Mein.

Vedaa marks John Abraham’s return to the box office following the phenomenal success of Pathaan. While there was initial hype surrounding his next project, the excitement dwindled due to delays in its release. Had Vedaa or another of Abraham’s films like Tehran released earlier, they might have garnered a stronger opening. Regardless, the film’s current performance is respectable, and fans are hopeful that it will achieve decent overall results.

News18 Showsha rated the film 3/5. In our review, we noted, “Despite its flaws, Vedaa remains an entertaining and thought-provoking watch, effectively engaging the audience with its strong themes and compelling storyline. While the climax may not fully measure up to the film’s potential when compared to others in the genre, the journey it takes you on is undeniably gripping, making Vedaa a worthwhile experience.”

As Vedaa continues its run in theatres, its success will depend on how well it can hold its ground against the juggernaut that is Stree 2 and maintain its appeal to audiences over the coming weeks.
