Sushmita Sen has come a long way in the entertainment industry, solidifying her place as one of the most talented actors. While there was never a doubt regarding her skills, the actress took it upon herself to captivate the audience each and every time she is on screen. Her bold performance in the web series Aarya was no less. Her portrayal received significant praise from both spectators and reviewers. With the final chapter of the web series, Aarya Antim Vaar, set to release soon, Sushmita Sen candidly spoke about her experience in the industry over decades. She stated how she was considered difficult due to her constant questions.

In her latest interview with PinkVilla, Sushmita Sen opened up about how she was termed “opinionated” for expressing her views. She stated, “But agar aap har cheez ke baare mein agree nahi karte in the 90s, whatever it is. If you as an actress asked for ki role mein karna kya hai, you are difficult as an actor to deal with. Aap bahut jyada sawaal jawaab karte ho. Aurton ko nahi karna chahiye………Galatfehmi. Sawaal hai jaroor kijiye. (In the 1990s, if you didn’t agree with everything, no matter what, and as an actress, if you raised questions about your character, you were deemed tough to work with. You posed too many questions. Women shouldn’t do this… Misconception. Asking questions is key).”

The actress added that it is critical to express one’s ideas, regardless of the language. Furthermore, she stressed that one should always speak up because if they stop speaking, their freedom will be taken away. Talking of her stardom, the actress said, “I accept it. But I am a very blessed person. My entire life has been spent being famous, so it’s been about people, human interactions, opinions, and judgments. But at the end of the day, I have met very few people in this world who are as loved as I am.”

Sushmita also addressed the issues related to actors not being their true self in front of the camera in public. In Sushmita’s opinion, being authentic is not a “choice” but its “who you are,” and one does not need anyone’s approval to be their true self. She added, if an individual is unique, they will stand out amid the crowd.

Aarya Antim Vaar will be released on February 9 and stream on Disney+Hotstar.
