Standing on the heels of their 4th wedding anniversary, Jodie Turner-Smith left everyone surprised after she filed for divorce from her husband Joshua Jackson earlier this month. Citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her decision, the actress filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. While the development came weeks after several rumours started making rounds about their separation, a source has now quipped that it was because the actress “refused to settle for something that didn’t feel right.” Amid all the deliberations regarding the specific reason behind their split including a cheating scandal or something like that, it has now boiled down to that the actor didn’t feel like it was working for her which is why she “ripped off the band-aid.”
According to a US Weekly report, a source while giving much-needed insight into why the After Yang actress made the sudden decision from her husband after four years of their marriage said, “She refused to settle for something that didn’t feel right. It wasn’t working for her, so she ripped off the Band-Aid.”
At a time when fans had no clue what had gotten into their marriage, reports suggested that they were actually dealing with some “issues” in their relationship, in part due to their busy schedules and other responsibilities. Further, considering that Joshua was “caught off guard” following Jodie’s decision, there was a lot of suspicion about the actress having a bigger reason for the split.

A second source while speaking about their relationship said that the Dawson’s Creek” alum truly felt blindsided by her decision, further adding that “Joshua was clearly caught off guard by Jodie’s decision to divorce.”
“They had their issues, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child. Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy,” the source added.
Their close circle including their friends were also baffled after getting to know about the decision. “They became glued to each other after the first night they met, and then parenthood soon followed. It was a huge lifestyle change, especially for a free spirit like Jodie. But they seemed so devoted to each other, so everyone is shaking their heads,” it added.
After dating in 2019, the couple tied the knot less than a year later and welcomed their daughter in April 2020. It was just earlier this month that ‘The Acolyte’ actress filed for divorce on October 2, listing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
