Popular South Korean singer, songwriter, and rapper, Kwon Ji Yong, popularly known as G-Dragon has officially parted ways with YG Entertainment and has signed a contract with Galaxy Corporation. On December 21, the K Pop entertainment agency Galaxy Corporation hosted a press conference to announce the news. The press conference shed light on G-Dragon’s recent legal clearance in a drug-related case and also shared some details of the artist’s exciting plans slated for 2024. While G-Dragon himself was notably absent from the event, the conference formalised an exclusive contract between the artist and Galaxy Corporation.
During the event held in Seoul, Galaxy Corporation director Jo Sung Hae took the stage to officially declare this new partnership, placing special emphasis on the nature of their relationship as not merely artist and agency but as partners and companions.
“Galaxy Corporation and artist G-Dragon have signed an exclusive contract. Artist Ji-yong Kwon and Galaxy are not just a simple agency relationship, but a relationship of partners and companions, doing things that have never been done in the world and could not be done. We will continue to challenge ourselves,” he announced.
He further said “In order to take a path that others have not taken, we will complement each other and show not only the side that Kwon Ji-yong has shown so far, but also the side that we have not seen before.”
Jo Sung Hae also informed that the delay in announcing this exclusive contract was because of a respectful wait for G-Dragon’s former agency to state its position. “We were waiting for the previous agency’s position and thankfully, yesterday, the former agency told us that they would bless Kwon Ji-yong’s future, and we also express our sincere gratitude to YG Entertainment. Because of YG, we have the Kwon Ji-yong we have today. And we, Galaxy, will do our best to continue the path of glory that YG and G-Dragon have walked,” he added. He also acknowledged YG’s role in shaping G-Dragon’s current trajectory.
He further announced that G-Dragon will make a comeback in 2024.
Recently, the 35-year-old K pp star also posted an image on his Instagram, commemorating his journey with his new agency.
