'There Will be a Blast': Mumbai Police Receives Threat Call on Saturday Night; Probe On
Following the call, the Crime Branch has been put on alert

Mumbai Police’s Control Room received a threat call on Saturday evening with a claim that there will be a bomb blast in the island city.

Following the call, the Crime Branch has been put on alert and the caller is being traced.

So far, nothing suspicious has been found.

The incident comes just days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a threat mail saying 11 bombs were planted at 11 locations in Mumbai.

The mailer had demanded the resignations of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allegeing that they were involved in the “biggest scam in India’s history”.

However, the very next day, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested three men from Gujarat’s Vadodara over their alleged involvement in sending a threat mail to the RBI.

Last month, the Mumbai Police receieved a series of threat calls and messages.

On the night of November 26, a caller had claimed that two to three terrorists had arrived at Mankhurd’s Ekta Nahar, adding that they were planning something. But it was later found that the information was incorrect and the caller had been in an inebriated state when he made the call.

Before that, the Mumbai PCR received a call threatening to kill prime minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and also bomb JJ Hospital.

Later, the police arrested the accused — identified as Kamran Khan — from Sion. During interrogation, Khan had also said that he was associated with mafia leader Dawood Ibrahim.

During the ICC World Cup as well, Mumbai Police had received a threat on social media just before the semi-final match between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium.
