Vicky Kaushal Wants To Headline Dhoom 4, Says 'Aisa Ho Jaye Toh Maza Aajaye'
Vicky Kaushal got candid about his first thoughts when Vijay Krishna Acharya approached him for The Great Indian Family.

Following the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Vicky Kaushal is set to star in another family drama. Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, The Great Indian Family also features Manushi Chillar in the lead role. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on September 22. Ahead of the film’s release, Vicky Kaushal revealed whether he thought it was for Dhoom 4 when the makers approached him and if he would like to headline the popular action franchise.

In an interview with the entertainment portal PinkVilla, Vicky Kaushal shared, “Actually, when I got a call from Yash Raj saying that we want to narrate a film to you which is going to be directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, I was like, Yash Raj, Vijay Krishna Acharya.. it’s a big action film. So I was like, okay, I’m coming to the office and I’ll hear the film out, and he straightaway went into the film and I’m like, ‘Interval ho gaya ek thappad bhi nahi aaya abhi tak.’ It was not even a slap.”

He added, “But soon you realize this is not that film, it’s a very hardcore family entertainer. There is fun happening, comedy bhi hai, gaane bhi aa re. Bhajan Kumar is this character which I was really fascinated by from the word go, and then obviously when the conflicts come and everything, it turns emotional as well. By the time the film ended, the narration ended, I was really affected by the film, affected by the characters, and I felt like it’s a fun yet important film, and I would love to just be a part of it.”

However, the actor is open to the idea of working in Acharya’s Dhoom 4, if and when it happens, “Aapke muh me ghee shakkar, aisa ho jaye toh maza aa jayega,” the actor quipped.

In the teaser, the actor passionately discusses the importance of family bonds until he becomes emotional about his eccentric family members. He even refers to his family as a ‘snake’ that can turn his aspirations to ashes. Then, multiple voices call him out for speaking negatively about his loved ones. He swiftly changes his tone, explaining that he wants to warn the audience about “The Great Indian Family.”

Vicky Kaushal is also set to star in Meghna Gulzar’s biopic on Sam Maneckshaw, with aims at a December release.
