Vikrant Massey made his Bollywood debut in 2013’s Lootera alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. He revealed that in his first shot he accidentally hit Ranveer Singh hard but did not receive any harsh reactions from the actor. He recalled the story in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, to promote the release of his new film 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
His first scene was shot in the city’s Film City studio with Ranveer. In the sequence, while they are staying at Pakhi’s (Sonakshi) house, Ranveer comes to his room and shakes him awake. “It was the bedroom sequence, when Ranveer’s character comes and wakes me up, and I point my gun at him. That was my first day. I was so nervous, I was so intimidated by Vikramaditya Motwane.”
Recalling a moment from that day, he shared that he was thrilled after acing his first film audition, especially because he admired the person he was working with. “I was overwhelmed after cracking my first film audition, and this was someone I really wanted to work with. And Motwane has that aura about him; highly intellectual, doesn’t speak much. And Ranveer and Sonakshi, a big budget… The moment I pulled my gun out to point at him, the nozzle of the gun grazed his nose. I felt I’m going to get kicked out on the very first day.”
While Vikrant was worried that he had harmed a rising superstar, who would need weeks to heal, nothing of that sort happened.
News18’s review of his new film 12 Fail reads, “Massey as Manoj is the beating heart of the film. He brings a rare vulnerability, honesty and earnest dignity to his character. However, the other loopholes in the film dilute his efforts. Massey gives Manoj his all. His determination to play the part to a T and Manoj’s gumption become one. He lets his eyes do a lot of the talking.”
