The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to hold the JEE Main 2021 March session beginning tomorrow – March 16. The engineering entrance exams will continue to be held till March 18. This year, the exam is being held four times a year hence those who are not satisfied with their JEE score of March or February will have a chance to appear for the exam in April as well as in May.
Reporting Time: NTA is holding the JEE Main in two shifts. The morning shift will be held from 9:00 am to noon while the second shift will start from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Candidates need to report to the exam centre two hours before the commencement of the examination. For those who would not be able to reach on scheduled, no retest will be held by the NTA, as per rules.
Must Carry Items: Students need to carry their JEE Main 2021 admit card along with a self-declaration, valid photo ID proof, photograph, a simple transparent ballpoint pen, personal hand sanitiser (50 ml), personal transparent water bottle, sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.
The admit card will include details like the name and roll number of the candidate, the name of the examinations, reporting time to the exam centre, exam duration, and the instructions to be followed by the students.
Banned Items: Students are not allowed to carry instruments, geometry or pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper/ stationery/ textual material (printed or written material), eatables and water (loose or packed), mobile Phone/ earphone/ microphone/ pager, calculator, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Hall/Room.
Mode of Exam: This year, the exam will be held in a different format. Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the JEE (Main) 2021 will now be conducted for the first time in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu for the first time, in addition to Hindi, Gujarati, and English. In the February attempt, over 40,000 students took the exam in regional languages.
What to do when enter the exam hall: The candidate should ensure that the question paper available on the computer is as per his/her opted subject indicated in the Admit Card. In case, the subject of the question paper is other than his/her opted subject, the same may be brought to the notice of the Invigilator concerned. The candidate may approach the Centre Superintendent/Invigilator in the room for any technical assistance, first aid emergency, or any other information during the course of the examination.
Exam Pattern: Most of the state and central education boards have reduced their syllabus for this year’s exams. To match-up to them and ensure no student is at a disadvantage, the NTA introduced an internal choice option in exams this year. In each subject, students will be asked up to 30 questions of which they will have to attempt only 25 questions per section.
