The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted heavy rainfall for various states including West Bengal, Odisha, Kerala, and Karnataka for the next four days. The weather department also observed that weather conditions will become favorable for the withdrawal of the monsoon in the next three days in the northwest region of the country.

Here are the updates on rain conditions across the country:
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, and Sikkim are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall till October 3.
- A low-pressure area brewing over the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rain across Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during this weekend, the IMD said.
- In southern part of the country, heavy rains is predicted for Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry till October 1.
- In the wake of continuous rains in Kerala, the IMD has issued an ‘orange alert’ in four districts — Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
- Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Geromic George has banned all kinds of mining, quarrying as well as tourism activities in both coastal and as well as hilly areas, an official statement was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
- The rest of the 10 districts in Kerala — Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kozhikode — were placed under ‘Yellow Alert’, IMD sources were quoted as saying on Friday. An Orange Alert indicates very heavy rains — 11 cm to 20 cm, and Yellow Alert predicts heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.
- Kerala Health Minister Veena George cautioned the public about the possible spread of contagious diseases due to the continuous rains, and said that hospitals have been put on alert and the availability of essential medicines ensured.
- Tamil Nadu will receive light to moderate downpour till October 4.
- Goa and Maharashtra are also likely to experience isolated rainfall till October 1. South Konkan and Goa will also likely to receive rains on September 30.
- Light and moderate showers along with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to be seen over Chhattisgarh till October 2.
- Moderate rainfall followed by thunderstorms and lightning is likely to be over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till October 2.
- Arunachal Pradesh may also witness similar trends of rainfall on October 3.
- The IMD Patna has also notified about the increase in rainfall in Bihar from October 1-4.
- The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lighting at one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak in Odisha.
