Noida, Greater Noida Schools, Colleges to Remain Closed Today Due to Guru Dronacharya Mela
Schools, universities, and other educational institutions will be closed as a precaution to prevent major commotion during the Guru Dronacharya Mela

An official notice from the Gautam Buddh Nagar government states that all schools and institutions in Noida and Greater Noida are to be shut today, September 12 in observance of the Guru Dronacharya Mela. In recognition of the historical significance of the Guru Dronacharya Mela, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), Dharamveer Singh, has issued an official statement declaring a holiday for all public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions.

“The Guru Dronacharya Mela is an annual fair held in Dankaur. The fair holds historical significance. The district magistrate has the power to order holidays on such occasions and accordingly, all educational institutions have been informed to remain closed on Tuesday,” Dharmveer Singh told news agency PTI.

It has been reported that the decision to close schools, institutions, and government offices today was made because of the annual fair hosted in Dankaur. Schools have been instructed to send messages to the parents of the students enrolled in their educational institutions informing them of today’s holiday.

Every year, the Guru Dronacharya fair is held on a massive scale, and as a result, several roads will be closed to maintain district-wide security. Schools, universities, and other educational institutions will be closed as a precaution to prevent major commotion. Schools were asked by the DIOS to rigorously abide by the directive.

The directive, according to Singh, is applicable to all schools from kindergarten through class 12 in all boards, as well as to government and private colleges and universities. Regular classes are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, September 13.

Meanwhile, schools in Lucknow have been asked to remain shut today due to severe rain and lightning that has lashed all eight tehsil areas in Lakhimpur Kheri.  District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh issued an order to close all schools from pre-primary through class twelve on September 12. In the eastern section of Uttar Pradesh, heavy rains are expected to last until September 14 and light rains will last until September 17, according to the forecast from the MET department.
