After Gujarat, ABVP Demands ‘Jai Bharat Jai Hind’ During Attendance in UP Schools
The new demand by the ABVP has stoked a new controversy as the opposition parties have slammed ABVP for diverting attention from trivial issues of farmers and unemployment.

Lucknow: Just days after Gujarat education board issued a notification to respond ‘Jai Hind’ or ‘Jai Bharat’, instead of ‘yes sir’ during attendance call, Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad has demanded UP students to respond with ‘Jai Bharat Jai Hind’.

The members of ABVP, the students’ outfit of Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh, wrote a request letter addressing UP deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma in this regard.

The new demand by the ABVP has stoked a new controversy as the opposition parties have slammed ABVP for diverting attention from trivial issues of farmers and unemployment.

Reasoning that the demand is to instil patriotism, ABVP state president Rakesh Dwivedi said, “A student normally says ‘Present Sir’ or ‘Yes Sir’ nearly one lakh times during his school days. If they say ‘Jai Bharat Jai Hind,’ a sense of patriotism will prevail in him.”

Samajwadi Party MLC and spokesperson Sunil Singh Sajan said it’s all BJP’s tactics to divert attention from trivial issues.

“BJP knows the art of distraction and they are really good at it. Instead of focusing on farmers’ issues and unemployment they want to instil ‘nationalism’ in students.” he said.

Slamming ABVP on the issue, Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi also said, “Such kind of advises should not be coming from ABVP and RSS whose people were caught working for ISI recently.”
