Chennai: With just a few more days left for the Tamil Nadu poll results, AIADMK cadre seem to be bringing down the heavens to ensure the victory of their leader J Jayalalithaa.
M Kamaraj of the party’s Kancheepuram West district organised a massive yagna in the city on Sunday to ward off any celestial misfortune to his party.
The Sada Chandi Yagam, a massive ritual offering, was offered at Manapakkam.
Top AIADMK leaders like party treasurer O Panneerselvam, Headquarters Secretary KA Sengottaiyan, Organising Secretary B Valarmathi and party spokesperson V Maitreyan attended the function.
Former minister V Somasundaram and AIADMK candidates in the recent election, P Ganesan, Molachur R Perumal, NSA Era. Manimaran were among the others who took part.
It is understood that the massive yagna, performed by over by 45 Vedic priests, happened with Jayalalithaa’s consent, after the AIADMK leader showed reluctance initially.
Over 700 people watched the yagna, some of them having walked in spontaneously. Sunday’s yagna was part of the daily prayers that Kamaraj had been organising every day after the polling.
The offerings and prayers will continue till May 13, when the votes would be counted.
Also present were a handful of retired IAS and IPS officers, apart from wives of some serving officials, who could not make it to the yagam because of official work.
