New Delhi: The Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam.
The decision was taken in the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting held on Thursday.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, he said, "I am happy over the party's decision. I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and party president Amit Shah ji."
In the meeting of BJP's Parliamentary Board, discussion was held on five states, but decision was taken for Assam.
Union health minister JP Nadda said, "We will form government in Assam."
