BJP denies ticket to LK Advani loyalist Harin Pathak

Earlier, Advani had expressed his desire that Ahmedabad East ticket be given to Pathak.

New Delhi: After Jaswant Singh, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday denied ticket to LK Advani's loyalist Hiren Pathak and instead fielded actor Paresh Rawal from Ahmedabad East. Pathak is the sitting MP from Ahmedabad East.

Pathak will talk to media on Sunday. "Workers of my constituency are not happy, I will speak to media tomorrow," said Pathak.

Earlier, Advani had expressed his desire that Ahmedabad East ticket be given to Pathak. Former union minister Pathak is one of the senior most MPs in Gujarat.

In 2009 elections, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had opposed Pathak's nomination, but it was overruled by both Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi then.
