New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has inducted Neera Yadav, allegedly one of the most corrupt bureaucrats in Uttar Pradesh, inducted into the party.
It is believed that Yadav, who's close to BJP President Rajnath Singh, will help him win Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat.
But her entry into the party has made many leaders uneasy as Yadav's induction comes just weeks after senior party leader Arun Jaitley fought and lost against the Rajnath-Sudhanshu Mittal combine.
However, the Yadav issue has given Congress more ammunition, especially since BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani had questioned the party's corruption record.
"She got a silver medal for corruption. BJP is relying on corruption, communalism and criminals," said Congress spokesperson Kapil Sibal.
Jaitley has refused to comment on the issue.
Yadav, a former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary courted infamy after becoming the country’s first IAS officer to be thrown out of her job on the orders of the Supreme Court.
