Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said that the Congress was in favour of removal of corruption from all levels of society but mere passing of a Bill cannot ensure it.
"Having a law is not enough but it is necessary to ensure that it is implemented in a scientific manner," the Chief Minister told on the sidelines of the Sadbhavna Diwas function organised on the occasion of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhis 67th birth anniversary.
The need of the hour is to ensure that a "scientific set-up coupled with the latest use of technology" is put into place which will definitely help in curbing corruption, Gogoi said.
"The use of e-technology in all offices can go a long way in removing corruption from society," he added. Without mentioning Anna Hazare, the Chief Minister said that the "recent awareness against corruption is a good sign but it is the social responsibility of all citizens to ensure that corruption is weeded out of society".
