New Delhi: In his first address after he was sworn in as the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath on Saturday addressed a gathering in his hometown Gorakhpur, assuring that he will follow PM Modi's "Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas" mantra and nobody will be discriminated against under his rule.
Taking a veiled jibe at Congress and Samajwadi Party, Adityanath said there will be "development for all, and appeasement for none" under his leadership.
CM Adityanath was addressing a huge gathering at Maharana Pratap Inter College where he received a warm welcome at Nagrik Abhinandan Samaroh.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah for their instrumental role in the party's mammoth victory in UP, Adityanath said that BJP got the majority owing to the strategy laid out by Shah, and the leadership of the PM.
Assuaging the apprehensions of the minority community, Adityanath said that there would be no discrimination against anybody on the caste, gender or religious grounds. "We need to put an end to the regional imbalance in development," he said, adding that his job was relatively easier since he had PM Modi as his mentor.
Issuing a warning to his own supporters over alleged cases of increasing vigilantism by anti-Romeo squads, he said that "nobody should be bothered unreasonably", and the couples who are together with "mutual consent" shouldn't be disturbed.
"I have ordered authorities to take action only against people who violate our sisters and mothers... and to make this possible, we have initiated anti-Romeo squads," he said.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has upped the ante against the illegal slaughterhouses, closing a number of them in Allahabad, Varanasi, and Lucknow.
However, on Saturday, he said: "We will follow National Green Tribunal's (NGT) observation on slaughterhouses to ensure that contaminated or illegal food products are barred from entering the market."
Lastly, before ending his speech, Adityanath announced that his government will extend an aid of Rs 1,00,000 to Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims and a Mansarovar Bhavan will also be constructed in the state.
