New Delhi: On March 11 , results of Assembly elections in five states, including Punjab, will be known. But for the Aam Aadmi Party, there are no doubts on who is winning in that state.

Six days ahead of results, AAP’s candidate from Nabha, Dev Mann, has already come up with a new song, ‘chadoo, chadoo/ arre, aa gaya chadoo/ kardi safaai, cha gaya chadoo’ (the broom has arrived/ it is everywhere), celebrating an expected victory in Punjab. And it’s gone viral.

The new Mann offering is a take-off on his earlier peppy number ‘chadoo walah button daba do’ (press the chadoo button), which was a hit among AAP supporters and played across Punjab during the campaign. The beat is the same, but the lyrics have gone ahead.

The first song, urging voters to press the ‘jhaddo button and sweep the Akalis and Congress away, was written two years ago while he was still in Canada. The second one was written and recorded after polling. For both songs, Mann was the singer-writer, while his brother K D Singh gave the music. They were recorded at a studio in his village in Fatehpur Rajputan.

Dev Mann worked as a radio host in Canada before moving to Punjab and eventually contesting elections from Nabha. “We’ve worked hard, the Almighty stands with the truth. I am not talking about TV surveys, I am talking about aam aadmi’s survey, and we are saying that chadoo ki sarkar aa rahi hai, toh iske liye gana banaya hai ( AAP will form the government, and hence we made this song)," he says .

Asked whether it isn’t so premature to celebrate, Mann said: “Yeh confirm hai, logon ne chadoo pe ( button) daba diya hai ( It is confirmed, People have voted AAP)."

Mann is not the only AAP leader in Punjab who is so sure of a win. Sanjay Singh, Bhagwant Mann, H S Phoolka and others have even started “announcing" steps for de-addiction, among other things. That, clearly, is a lot of confidence.
