Amidst rumours of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath quitting the Congress party and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, the former Congress leader removed the “Jai Shri Ram” flag from the top of his residence.
The flag was apparently spotted on the rooftop of Mr Nath’s Delhi residence on Sunday, an NDTV report stated. In fact, sources very close to Kamal Nath have also said that both Kamal Nath and his son are not joining BJP.
As per Congress sources, Kamal Nath has “assured” that he won’t leave the party.
However, earlier, Congress sources said while Kamal Nath himself might not join the BJP, his son and some other party leaders might.
On the other hand, the saffron party’s sources on Saturday told News18 that Kamal Nath is likely to join their party in the next 48 hours.
On speculations of whether he will join the BJP, the Congress veteran said he “will inform if anything happens”.
Meanwhile, Kamal Nath’s and Congress MP Nakul Kamal Nath also dropped a major hint of a possible political switch after he removed the party name and symbol from his social media bio this week.
Kamal Nath is reportedly upset as he was not consulted by the party leadership before the Congress nominated Gwalior-Chambal politician Ashok Singh for the Rajya Sabha elections.
