Thiruvananthapuram: An Aam Aadmi Party office in MG road was vandalised allegedly by two youth Congress workers over comments made by party leader Kumar Vishwas on nurses from the state.
The Congress workers alleged that the remarks, made during a speech in Ranchi in 2008 and uploaded on a social networking site recently, were laced with "sexist undertone".
Joining the chorus of protesters, eminent Malayali writer Sara Joseph, who joined AAP last week, said, "Remarks of Vishwas are totally deplorable. I strongly protest it. I expect that the AAP leadership will come out with a clarification on the issue."
According to the police, the two men barged into the party office in Kochi and broke their phones, chairs, glass cabin. They also threw black oil and rotten eggs, police said.
The police have registered a case against the two accused who have so far not been identified. The Mahila Congress also took out a march in protest of Vishwas' statement.
The united nurses association has issued a legal notice to the AAP leader demanding that he take back his statement and apologise to the entire nurse community.
