Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's penchant of playing up the caste card was countered by a group of students at IBN Dialogue Bihar 2.0 in Patna on Friday.
When the former Bihar chief minister asked the audience if caste system continued to be a reality, he was countered fiercely by some students among the audience who said that there was no such thing in the present context.
This, however, failed to deter the veteran politician, who termed it as a reality. Lalu saluted the group of students following their response on the issue but told them that they cannot turn away from the reality of caste system which is prevalent all over the country.
The RJD chief, who is fighting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in alliance with the JDU and the Congress, further blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not making the details of caste census public to "suppress the backward castes".
The former chief minister was countered by the students of Central University of south Bihar. The students were Nishant Suman, Wali Shabila, Aparjita Pathak, Sujeet Goel, Vijendra Dubey, Vikram, Ajit, Rishi, Shivam and Shrimmi.
He also accused the NDA government of playing caste card in the run up to the elections.
